Happy Summer, all y'all! The fun's just getting started at your Wallingford Farmers Market. And to that end, we've got Chef George DePasquale from The Essential Baking Company performing a cooking demonstration today at 4 p.m. Woohoo!
Jeesie's Berries returns today to your Wallingford Farmers Market. Okay, yes, I do know that this is not a photo of berries. It is eggs, and they will be offering 10-15 dozen eggs each week now at your Wallingford Farmers Market. And they will also have plenty of fresh strawberries, too!
Hey, kids. Lyall Farms has early Rainier cherries today! This is a variety of Rainiers bred specifically to ripen early in Washington, and because Lyall grows them in their Prosser orchards, they ripen even earlier. Enjoy!
More and more veg is coming in, as temps warm and the sun makes more frequent appearances. Like this refreshing fennel from Alm Hill Gardens. It is great raw in salads, as a garnish, grilled, roasted, sauteed... you name it!
Carrots! Yay! From Lee's Fresh Produce. Finally, some orange in our salads again. A-friggin-men! And if you haven't checked out Lee's yet, you must. They have some of the most beautiful produce around, and a great variety of it, including items you won't find on other farmers' tables. And they are in the midst of transitioning to organic certification, too.
With all the strawberries in the Market now, you need shortcake. Well, how about gluten-free shortcake? Dolce Lou is offering just that! Okay, I know, this photo is not of shortcake, but hey, it's new. I'll get a photo today!
I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream! And finally, the weather screams for it, too. Stop by Whidbey Island Ice Cream today for an ice cream bar to tide you over until you get home, where you can get out a spoon and devour the pint of ice cream you got!
Of course, this is just a highlighting of what you will find today. There is still plenty of other stuff just waiting for you at your Wallingford Farmers Market this week. For a full accounting of what you will find, check out What’s Fresh Now!
